Thank you all for another wonderful season. Your support throughout the year, in both good times and rough, was and continues to be very much appreciated. It has been my pleasure to update you on the website and to help run the team and keep everything going, even when things looked like they might not have panned out. I hope you continue to follow the Falcons in their endeavors next year, have a great Spring and Summer! At the NCCHA Conference Tournament in Kearney, NE, the Falcons played the Iowa State Cyclones Friday night. In the first period, the Falcons were still reeling from the lost the past weekend, and dropped two goals to Iowa, ending the first 2-0. Life was roared back into Air Force in the 2nd, however, and scored a goal, but was later matched with another Cyclone goal. The third period proved to be one of the best Air Force had played all season, coming back under impossible odds to tie the game 3-3 with 3 minutes left in the game. With the momentum swing to the Falcons, they were on fire. A weak penalty would ultimately cost them the game, however, and the Falcons were scored on with 9.4 seconds left in the game. The second game against Wyoming for 3rd place in the tournament proved to be the lifeblood of the Falcons. With it being the seniors last game, both offensive seniors, Garrett Kurtz and Sean Sullivan, scored, 1 and 4 goals, respectively, with several key assists and plays from the defensive senior John Jenkins to secure the lead and to stop several goals from being scored. The Air Force Academy Club Hockey team ended the season with a win 10-2. The Falcons played Fresno State today, Friday the 13th, and won 6-0. After a tough first period, ending down 3-0, the Falcons made a tremendous comeback, scoring three goals, but were ultimately unable to overcome the deficit, dropping to College of the Canyons 5-3, and thus ending their bid to the National Tournament. The Falcons also earned a #2 seed in the NCCHA Western Conference, and will be traveling to Kearney, NE for the NCCHA Conference Tournament/Championship. Friday's game will be at 6:45 PM at the First Tier Event Center, and Saturday's game will be either at 11 AM or 1:45 PM. The opponent on Friday will be Dordt College.
